Started in May 1931, LCH is located in the township of Mussoorie, at 7,000 feet above sea level in the Himalayan foothills. It serves the people of the township as well as the nearby villages. The hill people in the villages are very poor, living at a subsistence level, with high infant and maternal mortality rates, compounded by malnutrition. Many are refugees from Tibet and Nepal.
LCH offers General Surgery,

Obstetrics & Gynecology,
Paediatrics,
Anesthesia,
Dental services,
Ophthalmology and Community Health services. It has a bed capcity of 35, and an outpatient capcity of around 100 paitents per day.
