'The Future of Healthcare Mission in Sub-Saharan Africa'
November 26 2003
Partnership House, London SE1
This will be the third annual Global Connections forum on mission and healthcare. This year, we are looking at the issues facing Christian medicine and healthcare as an aspect of mission in Sub-Saharan Africa, and at the challenges, changes and future direction of healthcare mission in that continent.
Key speakers will include
Dick Anderson of AIM on an overview of the continent and
Stan Rowland of Medical Ambassador's International on programmes integrating community health, development and evangelism as a strategy for outreach in Africa.
There will also be a range of seminars running throughout the day on topics including AIDS, primary care, mission hospitals, oral health and healthcare in conflict zones. A bookstall will also be available.
The overall aim of the day will be to bring out the key strategic issues facing the continent, to highlight some of the key strategies already in place, and to identify areas where there still needs to be some work on more strategic responses within and between agencies.
If you are a mission leader working in Africa or a health professional with an interest in the continent, then this day is for you. If you work in other regions of the world, we expect to be covering topics of such wide ranging impact (such as AIDS prevention and care strategies) that they will still be of relevance to work in your region.
Cost: £10 to include lunch.
(The charge also covers the costs of bringing in speakers from outside the UK, however the overall costs of the day have been underwritten by MMA HealthServe).
