Nurses Christian Fellowship International (NCFI) 16th Quadrennial Conference:

"Challenged to Care"

Seoul, South Korea

In July 2004, over 500 participants from around the world will gather in Seoul for The 16th Quadrennial conference of NCFI. "Challenged to Care" aims to equip nurses to be a Christian voice and presence in today's world. The objectives will be:

To explore the biblical basis of caring

To build and strengthen Christian values as a foundation for knowledge and practice in nursing

To explore and challenge the context of Christian nursing practice - focusing on social and political globalisation, paradigm shift in nursing and unity and diversity world views

To integrate leadership, scholarship and servanthood throughout the programme

Nurses have a unique role of caring for people, in the critical health-care challenges around the world, such as HIV/AIDS. This conference will strengthen them to meet these challenges as we provide spiritual support and the caregiver. Participants will be challenged to return to their countries and mentor other nurses to receive and pass on this support.

To sustain caring nurses who need an understanding of their work that provides motivation and courage. Conference teaching on the biblical basis of caring will provide this foundation. Building on the calling to nursing as a ministry of God that is significant in our heritage as a profession. Participants will be challenged to practice nursing and teach other to demonstrate compassion, justice, moral and ethical leadership.

Increased Global communication allows us to understand what is happening and provide collaboration for creative solutions for healthcare issues. The conference will build a Global network for partnership to influence nursing and Christian values. Participants will be challenged to identify strategies for positive change and to work together for Christian Influence in nursing education, practice, management and research.
