Healthcare Sunday Resource Pack Goes Live On-Line
Health is an issue that effects us all. At some stage in our lives every one of us will look to a health professional for help and advice. One of the main agencies bringing healthcare in the United Kingdom is the National Health Service. As one of the largest employers in the world it employs over one million people, of which there are an estimated 100,000 who are Christians, with many more working in the private and voluntary sector.
Healthcare Sunday is an opportunity for Churches to recognise the work done by healthcare professionals and voluntary carers in their communities and congregations. It also gives an opportunity to pray for the nation's health provision, as Christians in the community we have a responsibility for the health of the nation. There are more opportunities now than ever before for the Church to take the lead in creative compassionate caring within the community.
This year's Healthcare Sunday will be held on October 17 on the themes of Just Another Job? Has Vocation vanished for Christian Healthcare Workers too?. The aim is to help churches understand the issues facing their members who work in the healthcare sector, and to support them in their calling to this work.
A range of resources for churches and hospital fellowships to use are available on line at http://www.healthcaresunday.org.uk A copy of these resources will also be available on CD-ROM.. Contact web@healthcaresunday.org.ukfor more information or write to Healthcare Sunday
