Oasis India (http://www.oasisindia.org/) are looking for a Doctor to work in Mumbai.

Oasis is a Christian organization with a vision for working in holistic healthcare for people who are underprivileged in society. This means working as an integral part of a health-care team, including Doctors, nurses, and psychosocial staff.

At our 'priceless' health center in Kurla, we especially treat women and children, with a specific focus on the victims of human trafficking.

The health center has been recently opened, and currently a GP from Scotland is providing 2 days a week to keep things ticking over. However he will be leaving on the 10th of June! Oasis desperately want a full-time doctor to really get their teeth into this exciting opportunity. Any commitment would be considered, from 6 months to long-term.

1) Out patients – We currently are running this service in the mornings. This mostly caters for women, children, and the poor from surrounding slums.

2) In-patients – With three beds. This is currently not operational, but will provide services for people in emergency situations who have been refused treatment elsewhere.

3) Floating clinics - We are running clinics at out-lying Oasis projects, and one other Christian NGO project with a similar focus to Oasis. These clinics only occur twice a week just now, and involve going into slum and red-light areas. This service is quite fun and interesting, and could very easily massively expanded.

In all these areas there is opportunity to share your faith, and people are always very open to receive prayer.

A Doctor interested in coming would need to be a committed Christian and to adhere to the central beliefs of Oasis as an organization.

Some post graduate experience would be beneficial.

This is an exciting opportunity, and an incoming Doctor would be able to be a part of shaping our service and seeing it expand. You would really have the opportunity to see yourself used in God's kingdom in helping some of the most marginalised and overlooked people in the world.

For more information please contact Dr. Adam Black on clanblack@gmail.com, or Mr Vasu Vittal at vasu.vittal@oasisindia.org.
